My definition of junk food is any food that lacks the nutritional value that benefits our health and well being. Also, another reason why children are fed junk food because the parent/guardian is not educated concerning proper nutrition. We all know that it is convenient and accessible. It’s much quicker to go to a fast food place than it is to cook.
There are many fast food restaurants that are now health conscious and they list a health food section as an alternative choice on their menus.
More and more people are becoming more aware of health issues and what they can do to prevent or reverse them.
A child, who is continuously being fed unhealthy foods, will also grow up making unhealthy decisions when it comes to food selection. Children are confronted with health problems at an early age that can be prevented. We should be educating our children at an early age concerning nutrition.
There are even fun ways that we can do this. Use your imagination and make up games when it comes to fruits and vegetables. For example very young children can be taught to count and even how to spell.
Some oldsters could worry that if they keep their kids from intake those fatty foods that they love, and only offer vegetables, that the children may starve, or have nutritional deficiencies from not eating.
Think about it this fashion, how much nutrients are they receiving from the fatty, processed foods now?
How could it be worse if you only give them fruits and vegetables?
Sure, maybe they’ll demand to have the foods they like, and not eat. They will eventually get hungry and if you retain providing fruits and vegetables and don't concede, you will see that they will begin to enjoy it, especially if they see everybody else within the family intake healthier.
Unless our children have alternative choices and are taught about health and nutrition they will not be the best that they can because they wont have the proper fuel to function on properly. We are what we eat, therefore if we only feed our children unhealthy food they will grow to be unhealthy adults. Get a recipe with a variety of food selections. Make it a family goal to eat healthy.
